Dressing Room

Furniture set with screen, coat stand and chair

This three-piece furniture set was designed for The Avantgarde Designers (TAG) exhibition organized by Surface magazine and hosted at fashion giant Romeo Gigli's Milan showroom during the world-renown Salone del Mobile di Milano.

The fashion showroom setting provided the context for the design of the set, which was specifically produced for this exhibition. The focal point of the set itself is the Mama chair, which was also selected to represent the group exhibition on Surface magazine's invitation.

Envisioned as the archetypical mother of all chairs, the Mama chair's primitive geometrics are combined with velvet covered silicone breasts to offer an unsubtle criticism to the rampant vanity of cosmetic surgery.

Next to the Mama chair, the Venetian screen sports a wooden frame fitted with venetian blinds, which can be adjusted for varying levels of privacy, or raised to allow full view and access.

The two pieces are completed by the unassuming simplicity of the Barbarian coat stand.
